Depression is something that can affect just about anyone at some stage during their life. Some people struggle while others tend to overcome it quite quickly.  Often medical intervention is sought which can be a temporary help, but taking an antidepressant does not solve the underlying problems. I was not immune. I suffered from severe untreated depression for several years while my children were very young. Finally I got to a point in my life where I knew that things had to change.

It was not easy for me to overcome my depression so I understand that this is not easy for anyone else. But I did realise that as miserable as it was it was a place of comfort.  To get out of it I had to step out of my comfort zone and that was something that I didn’t like doing. But with persistence I won in the end. I began to read heaps of self-help books and self-improvement books and finally realised that I was in charge of my life.  I realised that it was my choice to continue to suffer from depression or to find my own happiness. I found that by changing the way I saw things and changing my self talk it made a big impact on my recovery. It was not easy and I don’t tell people it will be.

Basically what it boils down to is in the end is this. We are in control of our minds and it is our minds that are keeping us trapped. I know this sounds stupid but sometimes we are comfortable in our depression because it is in our comfort zone.  We know how we feel, we know what to expect and everything is controllable and predictable. Nobody likes to be outside of their comfort zone. We are creatures of habit because this is where we feel safe. Change is not comfort. Change is the hardest thing you will ever have to do. But also the most rewarding.

To overcome depression we must be willing to step outside of our comfort zone as this is where change begins. It really isn’t that bad once you get on the other side. You realise it was so worth it.  It was the best thing I ever did as now I live a truly amazing life filled with peace, love and an abundance of happiness.

I now find happiness in helping others to change and find their inner happiness. It is truly amazing what you can accomplish on the other side. I am here to help you.
